Sloppy Joe Wonton Cups

Wonton wrappers are one of my favorite ways to make fun, easy, and pretty food. If you’re having a party, hosting a gathering or need a kid-friendly meal, these Sloppy Joe Wonton Cups are perfect. They’re easy peasy …. and eye-catching, to boot! Bonus: they only take 20 minutes or less to make, and they’re dairy-free!

How to Make Sloppy Joe Wonton Cups

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
  • Spray a muffin pan with olive oil cooking spray
  • Gently place one wonton wrapper in each muffin slot in the muffin pan
  • Bake the wonton wrappers on 350 degrees for 7-8 minutes
  • While they’re baking, brown the ground turkey (or beef) in a nonstick skillet or cast iron skillet
  • Add the ketchup, brown sugar, mustard, garlic powder and black pepper and cook on medium heat, stirring frequently, until the meat sauce becomes thick
  • Let the wonton “cups” cool for several minutes
  • Fill the wonton cups (while still in pan) with the meat sauce mixture
  • Top with the diced red onion and diced orange bell pepper
  • Remove from the pan, serve and enjoy!

Note: you can make the wonton cups ahead of time, but this recipe is best when you fill the cups shortly before you serve and eat them.

You may need to leave the onions and peppers off a few if you have a picky eater, but the crunch and flavor of them really add a lot to the taste here, so I don’t recommend going that route unless you have to.
