Nothing beats a good bottle of wine, savored with friends and family over a lovely meal. Which is why I jumped at the opportunity to review the new bundle of Texas wines that Kuhlman Cellars has put together for Thanksgiving. Whether you’re celebrating Friendsgiving, Thanksgiving and/or simply want to find a great Texas wine, check out my Kuhlman Cellars Thanksgiving Wine Review below.
One of the best things about having adult children is that they can join in things like Kitchen Gone Rogue’s wine-testing fun when they are home. My daughter and her friend visited at the perfect time this past weekend. We made a pre-Thanksgiving snack board and sampled the three wines together.
All three of us truly enjoyed this lovely wine. It smelled wonderful and tasted delicious, with only a moderate level of sweetness and a really nice finish that wasn’t too acidic. It paired well with our crackers, dips and other appetizers.
Kuhlman Cellars says on its website: “The nose is very nice with red berries such as cassis and sweet violet aromas. In the mouth the wine is soft with great roundness in the mid palate and a medium acidity lingering in the finish.”
Kuhlmination Estate White Wine
Next, we tried the 2018 Kuhlmination Estate White. It won a Gold Medal in the 2018 Lone Star International Wine Competition and is a blend of Marsanne and Roussanne — 100% from the Estate Vineyard, harvested at the end of July 2018.
In describing this wine, Kuhlman Cellars says: “Aromas of jasmine flower and fresh white peaches invite the mouthwatering acidity combined with honeysuckle and lemon drop flavors.”
We also enjoyed this white wine. It’s crisp with a slightly floral and fruity taste. It wasn’t too sweet or too tart, and it went well with salty crackers, cheese and other snacks we made. For Thanksgiving day, it will pair perfectly with turkey and all the traditional sides. It’s also a wine I’d enjoy in the summer months!
It has also become one of Kuhlman Cellars most popular red blends — and we can taste why. We LOVED this complex, velvety wine, and we will definitely be ordering a bottle (or two) for Thanksgiving to serve with heavier side dishes plus desserts!
