French Onion Soup
A delicious, soul-soothing homemade french onion soup that rivals anything you’ll ever order in a restaurant.
Instructions
  1. Slice the onions into thin slices and put them into a large pot.
  2. Add the butter and sautee for 35-45 minutes until the onions are carmelized (they will be almost syrupy).
  3. When the onions are ready, add 1 Tbsp of flour and mix.
  4. Next, add the wine, beef broth, worcestershire sauce, spices and bay leaves.
  5. Simmer for 20-30 minutes; then turn down to low and add 1 Tbsp of balsamic vinegar.
  6. Remove the 2 bay leaves and throw them away.
  7. Preheat oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit.
  8. Toast the bread.
  9. Spoon the soup into bowls and add a slice of toasted bread to the top of each; then top with the cheese of your choice.
  10. Place the soup bowls onto a cookie sheet and place in oven; heat for 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and bubbly. Enjoy!
